Advanced certificate
Clayton police officer Scott Holzshu has received the Advanced Law Certificate from the N.C. Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commissioner.
The certificate is the highest awarded by the state.
It recognizes education, training and experience.
Holzshu has been a police officer for 11 years.
Before coming to Clayton in 2007, he was deputy chief of the WakeMed Campus Police.
Mills retires
Archie Mills, parks and grounds supervisor with the Town of Garner's public works department, retired Jan. 15 after more than 16 years of service.
Mills began working for the town in Oct. 1993.
