Cleveland posted its first-ever victory Thursday afternoon in the consolation round of the 2010 JUSA Cup boys soccer tournament.

Rams coach Steve Doyle was pleased with his team's effort in the first half of the Rams' first victory, which was spearheaded by the play of Pedro Aviles and William Burton. Aviles and Burton both scored a pair of goals, keeping the Rams in front, then had to rely on its defense in the second half, particularly that of Aviles, who replaced Morgan Berger in goal with 32 minutes to play, after the Pirates, who fell to 1-2, had drawn within 4-3. Aviles came up with several heads-up plays in goal, but was almost burned in the final minute when he fell coming out of goal. But the Pirates failed to take advantage when the chip shot sailed high.

Burton opened the scoring for Cleveland five minutes into the half on a penalty kick, and added his second score on a right to left shot with eight minutes left in the half, giving Cleveland a 4-2 lead at the break.

Aviles tallied goals in the 15th and 19th minutes, with the first goal coming from 30 yards out.

Corinth Holders picked up their first-half goals on rebound shots from Melecio Rubio-Villagran, who followed on a miss by Dom Eannirin, while Dallas Crouse tallied on a rebound after a flurry of shots with 12 minutes left in the half.

Morgan Meria's goal with eight minutes gone in the second half drew Corinth Holders within 4-3.
