Louis Patrick Garrahan, Jr.

Louis Patrick Garrahan Jr. 78, of Garner, died Friday evening, June 17, 2011 after a lengthly battle with lung cancer. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 2 at 10:30 AM at St Mary Mother of the Church Roman Catholic Church, 1008 Vandora Springs Road, Garner. Internment of his ashes will be held at the discression of the family at a later date. A native of Queens, New York, Louis was the son of the late Louis P. Garrahan and Ellen Fox Garrahan. He was a 1951 graduate of Newtown High School 1950. Louis then served the United States Navy from 1951 to 1955. He was retired for the City of Melbourne Florida water works in 1995. Louis is survived by his loving wife of almost 58 years Eileen Swenson Garrahan, daughter, Diane Bray Bailey and husband Milton, of Garner, son, Guy R. Garrahan and wife Vanessa of Clayton, son Glen J. Garrahan and wife Margaret of Melbourne, Florida, daughter Gail Garrahan Fox of Pittsboro, NC, and son Greg L. Garrahan of Garner. 10 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 6 neices and nephews.Louis was preceeded in death by his brother Raymon F. Garrahan of Cape Cod, MA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of Wake County, 250 Hospice Circle Raleigh, NC 27607 and St. Mary Mother of the Church of Garner.
