'Whistling Pines' movie premiere
The premiere of the movie "Whistling Pines" is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, at The Clayton Center, 111 E. Second St., Clayton.
In 2009, Clayton portrayed itself in the first feature-length film shot primarily on location in the town. Now, Clayton plays the fictional town of Whistling Pines in a new Southern comedy. Most of the film is shot in Clayton, with a few scenes captured in Smithfield, Archer Lodge and New York City. The original music in the movie is by Southern rockers Nantucket.
The story revolves around the excitement created when the town learns that famous national newscaster Matt Carson is coming to Whistling Pines to do a story.
The community thinks this is the greatest thing to ever happen in town. What they don't know is that Carson's story is going to make fun of some of the town's characters, including Bob, the squirrel hater, and Jack, the local conspiracy theorist. When the town catches on to what is really going on, the mayor of Whistling Pines decides to change Carson's perspective.
The film's writer, producer and director is Clayton-area resident Mark Grady. It features several local actors and locations. Visit websterfallsfilms.com.

Admission is $12 for adults and $10 for seniors and students. Tickets will be available at the door. "Harvey" is the story of Elwood P. Dowd, whose best friend, Harvey, is a 6-foot-tall invisible rabbit. After his sister tries to commit Elwood to a mental institution, a comedy of errors ensues. Elwood and Harvey become the catalysts for a family mending its wounds and for romance blossoming in unexpected places.
