Chamber seeks event sponsors

The Garner Chamber of Commerce is seeking sponsors for 2012 events. They are the annual meeting, Connect Conference, business academy, business after hours, business breakfasts, the business expo, golf tournament, new member breakfasts, notary public classes, a reverse raffle and Women in Business luncheon. Account manager earns designation

Glenn Gillen, an account manager at S&A Cherokee, has passed the examination for accreditation in public relations, entitling him to use the APR professional designation.

The accreditation program aims to improve the practice of public relations by assessing competence in 60 areas of knowledge associated with the profession. The examination is designed for public relations professionals with five to seven years of job experience and, or a bachelor's degree in a communication field. The APR designation goes to candidates who successfully complete the process, including presenting his or her portfolio to a review panel of three peers and sitting for a computer-based examination.

"This demonstrates Glenn's knowledge and dedication as a public relations professional," said Chuck Norman, S&A Cherokee's owner and principal.
