The Clayton Parks and Recreation Department has scheduled the following classes at the Clayton Community Center, 715 Amelia Church Road, Clayton. For more information, call 553-1550.

Beginning Crochet - 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays, Jan. 23 through Feb. 27. Learn the basics of crochet, including the chain, slip, single, double and treble stitch. For ages 18 and older. Cost is $40 for residents and $55 for nonresidents.

Quilting - 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Jan. 25 through March 14. Learn the basics of quilting, such as collecting, marking the fabrics, cutting pattern pieces, piecing fabrics by machine sewing, joining blocks and making a border to finish and complete the project. For ages 18 and older. Cost is $50 for residents and $65 for nonresidents.

Young at Art: Preschool Art - 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesdays, Jan. 24 through Feb. 14. The class introduces preschoolers to shapes and primary colors. Children ages 3-5 will paint, print, sculpt and create paper collages and self-portraits. Cost is $30 for residents and $45 for nonresidents.

Senior Computer Classes - 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 28, Feb. 18 and March 10. The class is for adults ages 55 and older. Admission is free. The Jan. 28 class will focus on email; the Feb. 18 class on ecommerce, including billing, online selling and buying; and the March 10 class on social networks and Skype.

No School Today - The Clayton Parks and Recreation Department will offer child care for elementary school children from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on the following teacher workdays, Jan. 23, Jan. 24 and March 30, at the Clayton Community Center, 715 Amelia Church Road. Each child will need to bring a lunch, snacks and drinks for the day. Parks and Recreation will offer a variety of games and activities, including sports and arts and crafts. The cost per day is $10 for after-school participants, $25 for residents or $40 for nonresidents.
