Scholarship winners

Brian Owens of Pittsboro and Reddin Wheeler of Angier, both students at Wake Tech Community College, have received $1,000 scholarships from the mikeroweWORKS Foundation. The scholarships go to top students in equipment manufacturing students.

Owens has a 3.7 grade point average and plans to work for an equipment dealer in Garner. Wheeler has a 3.1 grade point average and works for a company in Fuquay-Varina selling construction and farm equipment. Both will graduate with associate degrees in heavy equipment and transport technology, with a concentration in construction systems.

Book fair

Johnston County Home Educators will hold its annual book fair and homeschool conference 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Saturday, June 22, at Wilson’s Mills Baptist Church, 652 Swift Creek Road., Smithfield. Admission is free. For more information visit, or Error! Hyperlink reference not valid.
