The town of Garner’s annual Independence Day celebration is set for Wednesday, July 3, at Lake Benson Park, 921 Buffaloe Road, Garner.
Activities and entertainment include live music by the Central Park Band, concessions, a kids’ adventure zone with inflatables, bingo, crafts and more.
Gates at the park will open at 5 p.m. Fireworks will begin after the North Carolina Symphony’s performance. The symphony will present a family-friendly Independence Day concert 8:30 p.m.
Guest conductor Matthew Troy will lead the symphony in performing patriotic favorites and high-spirited classics at this free concert. Miss North Carolina 2012, Arlie Honeycutt will open the program with the National Anthem and narrate “Liberty for All” with the symphony.
Shuttles will run from Bryan Farm, 1832 New Bethel Church Road beginning at 5 p.m. Handicapped-accessible and general parking is at Lake Benson Park.
Alcoholic beverages, glass containers, gas or charcoal grills, fireworks (including sparklers), pets, tailgating and tents are not permitted at the event. People are welcome to bring coolers, and umbrellas can stay up until the start of the symphony’s performance.
