Music off Main will give it another shot Thursday; meanwhile a show cancelled by a tropical storm was rescheduled.

The band BrickHouse hopes the weather treats it more kindly two weeks after tropical storm Andrea washed out Mike MickXer’s scheduled performance on the lawn by the Garner Performing Arts Center.

BrickHouse continues the 2013 edition of the series’ theme of bands with Garner roots. The group has participated in Music off Main before, and plays a variety of styles from all eras Its genres’ range in origin from 1960s to today.

“They play a wide variety, they’ve got diverse instrumentals,” Garner Revitalization Association executive director John Hodges said. “And they put on a really good and powerful show. They have a good stage presence, a good strong sound.”

The band replaces MoTown and R&B group “The Band Heartbeat,” which had to cancel.

Scattered thunderstorms are predicted for most days this week. Forecasts for Thursday vary and could shift and clarify as the week goes on, so Hodges said patrons should keep eyes open for updates. The decision to cancel will go down to the wire in hopes of a good break.

“We’re just going to handle it on a daily basis,” Hodges said. “The forecast changes so much we’ll probably make the call the day of.”

On June 6, no such uncertainty existed. It was clear relatively early that Andrea would wash out the venue. Mike MickXer has since been rescheduled to September 5.

Even in the event of imminent rain, though, Hodges said residents should check the town’s webpage (garnernc.gov) for updates as the event might not be cancelled.

“We also may make a different call; we might decide to move it inside the GPAC. Obviously we can’t reschedule them all,” Hodges said.

Other shows on the schedule for the series include the band Honey on Aug.15 and Old Habits on Sept.19.

Concerts last from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Chairs and blankets are welcome but food and beverage vendors operate on site so coolers are not allowed. Market off Main adds to the event, as local artists and businesses show off and sell their products.
