GARNER — One person is dead following a collision between a pickup truck and a motorcycle Friday morning near Garner.
Highway Patrol investigators are withholding the identity of the motorcyclist who died in the crash in the 1600 block of Old Garner Road, just outside the town limits.
According to Highway Patrol Sgt. Jeff Gordon, the driver of a 1996 Ford truck, Hugh Bailey, 89, of 4111 Rock Quarry Road, Raleigh, was traveling eastbound on Old Garner Road about 11:15 a.m., when he attempted to make a lefthand turn into a private driveway.
The motorcycle, a 2011 Harley Davidson, was traveling westbound on Old Garner Road when it collided with the right passenger side of the truck.
Bailey was not injured in the crash.
Charges are pending, according to Gordon. Alcohol and speed do not appear to have been a factor in the crash.
