The town of Garner will host its first ever Carnival Latino on Sept. 21, and it doesnt plan on it being the last.
On the heels of an All-America City win that included Garner promoting its diversity and inclusiveness, the town wanted to reach out to a Latino community that makes up 7 percent of the towns population.
So it will host an event featuring cultural elements like food, music and dancing. Members of the Carolina Railhawks soccer team will also make an appearance.
I think its a wonderful thing to do for the community, and wed like to do it every single year, parks and recreation marketing and events supervisor Liz Spivey said. And we hope that it will grow every year.
