Garner PD to begin Citizens Police Academy

January 20, 2014

The Garner Police Department is currently accepting applications for its Citizens Police Academy. This is an opportunity to learn how the department works, to meet officers who work in the community and to learn more about what it means to be a police officer in Garner today.

The goal of this academy is to build relationships between officers and the community through better understanding of our jobs and functions. It also provides a forum for feedback and suggestions for improvement. Each week, one or more topics will be discussed by members of the department.

The next academy starts March 11 and runs through May 13. Class will meet Tuesday nights, from 6 to 8 p.m. The classes are free. To register, visit Call 919-772-8810 for more information.
