Clayton tops Smithfield-Selma

Clayton downed Smithfield-Selma 18-4 in softball Friday behind Jenna Harris’ four-hit day. Harris homered and tripled on the day, while Kortnie Blanchard doubled twice and totaled three hits.

Mindy North also had three hits for the Comets.

Bailey Purdue and Kaylee Morgan combined to give up only three hits to the Spartans on the day.

Narron hurls one-hitter for Pirates

Kayla Narron worked a one-hit shutout for Corinth Holders Friday as the Pirates pounded Knightdale, 10-0, in softball. Narron struck out five and issued only one walk in the six-inning game.

Brandy Davis scored four runs for Corinth Holders with three hits and two RBIs. Kalin Mitchell was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Kayla Meares drove in two runs as well, while Kelsie Hocutt and Narron drove in runs as well.
