Garner boys, Southeast girls victorious

Garner’s boys and Southeast Raleigh’s girls prevailed in a Greater Neuse River 4A Conference four-team track meet on Thursday with East Wake and Rolesville.

Garner edged Southeast by 2 ½ points for the boys team win.

The Trojans’ individual event winners were Josh Talamantes (1,600 and 3,200), Aaron Grange (800), Sterling Sanders (high jump), Michael Jenkins (triple jump) and Nyheim Hines (100).

Southeast picked up wins from Dexter Lamar Brewer (100 and 300 hurdles), Jordan Sellers (discus), Jaquell Taylor (long jump), Brian Ananaba (400) and Elijah Reid (200).

Southeast had 84 team points to Garner’s 71 in the girls meet. Hassana Clark was a double winner for Southeast (discus and high jump), while Marissa Brower (300 hurdles), Saidah Hardwick (high jump) and Jasmin Allen (200) also won.

Garner’s winners were Montana Dare (1,600 and 3,200), Lacherie Clarke (100), Nyah Hines (100 hurdles) and Ejessica Brown (triple jump).
