PLJCS celebrates National Library Week

April 11, 2014

The Public Library of Johnston County and Smithfield will join libraries in schools, campuses and communities nationwide in celebrating National Library Week, a time to highlight the value of libraries, librarians and library workers.

In honor of National Library week local libraries will waive fines on all overdue library books returned between April 14 and 18. Participating libraries include: the Mary Duncan Public Library in Benson, the Hocutt-Ellington Memorial Library in Clayton, and the Kenly Public Library. The James Bryan Creech Public Library in Four Oaks will be accepting foods for fines to celebrate National Library week. For more information call 919-963-6013.

Additionally, PLJCS is inviting patrons to participate in #MYNCLIBRARY, a five-day challenge sponsored by the North Carolina Library Association. Patrons may complete each challenge on paper or through Instagram, Facebook or Twitter. Patrons who complete all five challenges will be entered into a drawing for four grand prizes: $50 and $25 gift cards to Amazon, and $50 and $25 gift cards to Barnes & Noble. Contact or visit the Public Library of Johnston County and Smithfield at 919-934-8146 and 305 E. Market St., Smithfield.
