Central wins in GNRC golf again

Harnett Central won its sixth straight Greater Neuse River 4A Conference boys golf match Tuesday with a 13-stroke victory at Reedy Creek Golf Course. West Johnston was second (335) and Garner took third (350). Clayton was fourth at 368.

Central’s Jacob Lowe and Rolesville’s Blake McShea shared medalist honors with 76s.

Garner’s Matteo Ceyrolles finished at 79; David Chavis and Brice Connors both shot 81 for West. Clayton’s Matt King and Alex Owens both turned in 85s for Clayton.

Garner blanks Rolesville

Garner topped Rolesville in a Greater Neuse River 4A Conference softball game Tuesday, 4-0. The Trojans had eight hits on the afternoon.

Princeton sweeps Hobbton on diamonds

Princeton scored two late runs to down Hobbton 4-2 in a Carolina 1A Conference baseball game Tuesday night.

The Bulldogs went ahead on Waylon Woodall’s RBI single in the sixth and added to their lead on Tyler Ricks’ RBI groundout in the seventh. Patrick Norris and Mario Cisneros also drove in runs for the Bulldogs.

Nick Phillips doubled and Matthew Edwards tripled in the win.

Matt Daughtry held the Wildcats to three hits in a complete-game victory. He struck out three and issued three walks.

Princeton rolled up 23 hits in a 19-0 win over Hobbton in softball. Hailey Wood was 4-for-4 with two home runs and a triple, driving in four runs. Taylor Carroll was 4-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs. Kelsey Peedin had three hits.
