GARNER POLICE

— Police are seeking two young male suspects who allegedly robbed a Subway restaurant at the Forest Hills Shopping center last Monday night.

The two suspects entered the sandwich chain located at 1310 Fifth Street just after 9 p.m., according to police spokesman Lt. Chris Clayton. One displayed a black handgun and demanded cash.

Once they fled with an undisclosed sum of money, the pair ran north toward U.S. 70. No one was hurt during the robbery.

Police describe both suspects, caught on surveilance cameras, as 18-20 year old black males. The taller one, estimated to be about six feet tall, had a dark complexion and wore a black hoodie with jeans.

The other suspect was two to four inches shorter and had a lighter complexion as well as dredlocks longer than shoulder length. He wore a black shirt with a red design and jeans.

Surveillance images indicate the pair made an effort to cover their faces.

The robbery occured not long after the annual “Respect the Law” May 12 police awards banquet. Clayton said staffing remained at normal levels during the event.

It was the first commercial robbery since a handful back in December and January.

Police ask that anyone with infomation related to the case call Investigator Preston Charles at 919-710-8810.
