Parents: Philip and Teresa Weathersbee

High School: Garner

Club Team: N.C. Elite

Also Considered: Meredith, Widener University (Chester, Pa.), Holy Family University (Philadelphia)

Why Lees-McRae? “I liked the school and the setting there. It’s going to be a new experience. The coaches and team were great to me.”

Major: Athletic Training

Notable: Courtney was the Greater Neuse River 4A Conference volleyball player of the year in 2013, helping set the Trojans up for yet another conference championship. As setter for Garner, she was the point person for most of those successful Garner kills. Courtney had 700 assists and 102 service aces last season. “Being named player of the year and being a part of such a successful team is something I’ll always remember,” she said. “This was the closest team I’ve ever been a part of.” … Courtney spent the winter recovering from a shoulder injury that required surgery that she suffered while getting in some extra work after practice with teammate Ka’asha Jefferies one day. She put off the surgery to repair the injury until the Trojans completed their season. She says she’ll be fully recovered by the end of June. Then, she will begin working on her goal for the off-season “getting into college shape.”
